 Golfweek Ratings
img“Many golf destinations offer both resort and community elements. Few offer both at the level of Kiawah Island.”

This statement begins a Golfweek article ranking The Kiawah Island Club’s Cassique and River Courses among the best residential golf courses in the United States. The sterling review ranked Cassique No. 23 on their Best Residential Courses list, with the River Course coming in at No. 75. It is great to see the courses receiving the accolades they deserve.
Winter Care for the Golf Courses
Keeping the golf courses in championship condition during the cold winter months requires effort from everyone. Steve Kelleher, the Club’s Director of Golf, has asked that golfers replace or fill their divots with sand, fix all ball marks, and vary golf cart tracks everywhere, while trying to drive in the rough (especially at Cassique).

There will also be winter hole locations in effect at the River Course over the months of December, January, and February. Four permanent cups will be cut on each green, and the pin will rotate positions. Empty cups will be filled with a green foam cap in order to not affect play. These permanent pin positions will minimize cutting new holes out of the dormant Bermuda grass greens, which leaves scars that do not repair themselves until the spring.

These simple measures will ensure the courses remain in great condition through the winter and into spring. Thank you for playing your part!

 GoKiawah's Fishing Report
After the amount of redfish that Club Members and Captain Elliot caught this fall, it is safe to say that October should be called “Red October!”

imgimgimg

Captain Elliot explains that the most exciting sight-fishing on Kiawah takes place during fall months. High tides send swarms of hungry redfish onto the shallow grass flats to feed on crabs which leave their tails exposed above the water line. In addition to redfish, Members caught an array of other species including a few sharks!
