After two years of employment at Doonbeg Golf Club in Ireland, Martin Shorter returns to the Head Golf Professional position at Cassique. Shorter previously held the head golf professional position at two other courses owned by Kiawah Development Partners – The River Course and Oak Point, a public course on nearby Johns Island that was subsequently sold to Kiawah Island Resorts.
A PGA member since 1992, Shorter is a former president of the Charleston Golf Course Owners Association. He was also the founding president of Charleston Golf Inc., a non-profit arm of the association formed in 1995 to market the Charleston area as a golf vacation destination. Under his leadership, Charleston Golf Inc. received the Governor's Award for Marketing and Tourism Excellence from the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism.
