Designed by Tom Fazio, The River Course opened in 1995 as The Kiawah Island Club's first golf course.  The site, which extends one and a half miles along the Kiawah River, was the location of the first English settlement on the Island in the 18th century.

Since it's opening The River Course has garnered numerous  accolades  including that of Golf Digest's 1996 top five new private courses in the nation.
